Now that we are deep within the throes of winter, it’s only natural that our thoughts turn to warmer days and the taste of the first fruits of spring and summer.
To capture those flavors, Sir Jason Winters International is excited to announce one of the latest additions, our Royal Crest Peach Apricot Green Tea.
On this blog, we’ve often written about all the amazing potential benefits of green tea. Gunpowder green tea is the key ingredient in our Peach Apricot Green Tea. To this, we have added the natural flavors of peach and apricot.
If you are looking for a sweet tea on your palette without all the added sugar and additives found in many bottled pre-made teas, look no further. Our Royal Crest Peach Apricot Green Tea features a rich, slightly smoky flavor combined with natural peach and apricot flavors for a sweet aroma and taste.
This tea can be served hot or cold and is excellent after a workout, at the office, or just relaxing at home any time of the day.
Gunpowder green tea is a version of tea that, like regular green tea, comes from Camellia sinensis or tea plant. The difference between Gunpowder Tea and other green teas is in how it is prepared.
The leaves for gunpowder tea are picked and aged and are then rolled into small, tight pellets. After they are processed and dried, the tea pellets resemble the lead balls or shot used in flintlock-style firearms, hence the name.
Tea historians believe that Gunpowder tea is one of the oldest types of tea, and it was first used during the Tang Dynasty in China nearly 1,000 years ago. Today it is principally grown in the Zhejiang Province in China. In China, it is called Zhu-cha.
Because Gunpowder tea is processed in the old way, it often has a slightly smoky taste that will manifest itself in the aroma and taste of the drink.
Gunpowder is just one form of tea that scientists worldwide have been investigating and producing studies about its potential health benefits for decades. Some of those studies include:
- Antioxidants
- Anti-inflammatory effects
- Strengthening bones and teeth
- Lowering cholesterol
- Normalizing glucose levels
- Potential anti-cancer benefit
- Cardiovascular health
- Weight Loss
- Immune support
Green tea has long been valued for its ability to reduce oxidative stress in the body through antioxidants, including EGCG.
Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is one of the main phytochemical compounds known as polyphenols that are found within the leaves of the tea plant. These polyphenols protect the cells in our body against free radicals that can cause stress in the body, causing inflammation and other stressors on our immune system.
Gunpowder tea contains the same amount of caffeine that other green teas do but contains less caffeine than most black teas do.
With natural peach and apricot flavors added, this tea is certified organic, all-natural, gluten-free, and kosher. Our Apricot Green Tea gives you all the healthy goodness of Gunpowder tea’s beneficial oxidants, along with the delicious fruity flavors of peaches and apricots.
Each package of our Royal Crest Peach Apricot Green Tea contains 12 pyramid sachets that are made of biodegradable starch material. Ultrasonic sealing, not glue, attaches even the string and tags. The bags are fully compostable.
Our signature sachets are also large enough to allow room for the tea leaves to expand, so you are getting the best taste with every brew. We blend and pack all of our Royal Crest Teas in the USA, so you know you are getting the best quality.
For a tea lover, nothing can compare to brewing the perfect cup of tea. Whether new to tea or a connoisseur, it doesn’t have to be complicated. To brew our tea, here is what we recommend.
- Bring water to a rolling boil.
- Allow your tea to steep for 1-3 minutes, or longer if you prefer.
- Serve this tea hot or cold.
- If you like a sweeter tea, add honey, raw sugar, or other natural sweeteners to taste.
- You may also wish to add cream or milk for a creamy, delicious taste
When the seasons finally turn warm again, why not brew a batch of Peach Apricot Green Tea and add a few slices of fresh peaches to your tea? Add a bit of raw sugar, stevia, or other natural sweeteners, and enjoy the refreshing goodness all throughout the warmer months of the year.
Also, if you enjoy cooking with tea, our Peach Apricot Green Tea would be excellent when added to recipes such as meats and sauces by incorporating its smoky yet fruity flavors.
